Dream House (2011)

Director: Jim Sheridan
Starring: Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz, Elias Koteas, Marton Csokas, Taylor Geare, Claire Geare, Rachel G. Fox, Jane Alexander, Brian Murray

Successful editor Will (Craig) retires in order to spend more time with his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two young daughters living in their new house in the suburbs. Rather than focus on his lovely family, he becomes intrigued by strange disturbances in the house and by his neighbour, Anne (Watts). Will soon finds out about his house being the spot where five years earlier a man named Peter Ward murdered his wife and two daughters.

Failure of a film from Irish director Sheridan, better known for real-life inspired projects My Left FootIn the Name of the Father and In America, who struggles to make a complete film as the storyline wavers through different ideas and visions. It's apparent that there was production difficulties including an incomplete script and it's also said that Sheridan and producer James G. Robinson (Ace Ventura, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) did not get along.

A critical failure and a box-office dud, the only true thing that keeps this from being a huge disappointment is a great performance from Craig and supporting role from Weisz - a little film gossip shows the pair hooked up during the making of the film already making it box-office poison (think Gigli, Mr and Mrs Smith and Proof of Life). Beware.
